Is it right for your home?

A great fit if you…

  • Are on city (municipal) water
  • Notice a chlorine or "pool" taste or smell
  • Want filtered water at every tap and shower, not just the kitchen
  • Want something you mostly forget about

Choose something else if…

Two stages. Zero electricity.

  1. 5-micron sediment prefilter catches sand, silt and rust before they reach the tank. Swap it every 6–9 months.
  2. Activated carbon tank removes chlorine and chloramine as water flows through. Your pressure stays strong, with only a 3–5 PSI drop.

Questions

Will it soften my water?

No. The PC tank is a filter: it removes chlorine and chloramine but doesn't change hardness. Scale is handled by a different tank, the NS (NaturSoft) salt-free conditioner. Want both? The Filter + NaturSoft combo puts them in one install.

What's the difference between PC, NS and PSE?

Those letters name the tank. PC is the carbon filter tank (taste and smell). NS is the NaturSoft salt-free conditioner tank (scale). PF is the fluoride filter tank. PSE is a combo of a PC and an NS tank, always in the same pairs: PSE1800 = PC600 + NS3, and PSE2000 = PC1000 + NS6.

PC600 or PC1000?

Count bathrooms with a shower or tub. Choose the PC600 for 1–3 and the PC1000 for 4–6. If you're between sizes or have high-flow fixtures, go up a size or call us.

Can I replace the carbon myself in 5 years?

Yes. You don't need a new system. The replacement kit swap takes 60–90 minutes, and we stock kits for every Pelican tank.

Will my water pressure drop?

Only slightly: about 3–5 PSI when the system is sized correctly for your home.

Premium Whole House Water Filter — Cleaner Water From Every Tap

Remove chlorine, chemicals, and sediment while protecting your home’s plumbing and improving taste, skin, and hair.

  • Removes chlorine & chloramines that cause taste & odor
  • Better-tasting water for drinking & cooking
  • Protects appliances & pipes from sediment buildup
  • Low maintenance: carbon media lasts 5 years
  • No electricity, no backwashing, no salt

Easier Tank Fill & Flush During Installation

During installation, one step is filling the tank with water and flushing the carbon media before putting the system into service. Without a proper connection, many people end up holding a garden hose against the tank inlet by hand.

A hose bib adapter allows you to securely connect a standard garden hose directly to the tank head, making this step cleaner and easier.

  • No awkward hose holding
  • Helps reduce slipping and splashing
  • Makes the flush process more hands-free

Already Have This Pelican System Installed?

Most Pelican whole-house systems use carbon media that needs to be replaced about every 5 years. If your system is already installed and still working, you likely just need the replacement carbon media, not a new filter system.

Which Pelican System Do You Have?

Use this quick guide to identify the most common Pelican / Pentair systems and the replacement media they need.

System Typical Home Size Replacement Needed
PC600 1–3 bathrooms PC600 carbon replacement kit
PC1000 4–6 bathrooms PC1000 carbon replacement kit
PSE1800 Two-tank system PC600 carbon + NS-3 conditioner media

Do You Need a New System or Just Replacement Carbon?

If your system... What you likely need
Is still working normally Replace the carbon media
Is about 5 years old Replace the carbon media
Has two tanks Carbon + conditioner media
Is damaged, leaking, or very old A new system may make sense

Most homeowners researching Pelican systems already have one installed and simply need the correct replacement media.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should Pelican carbon be replaced?

Most Pelican and Pentair whole-house systems need carbon replacement about every 5 years, depending on water usage and quality.

How long will the carbon last?

Typically about 5 years for an average family of four. Actual lifespan may vary depending on water usage and chlorine levels.

Do I need to replace the whole filter system?

No. Most homeowners only need to replace the carbon media, not the entire system.

See our Pelican carbon replacement kits.

Will this system remove water hardness?

This is a whole-house carbon filter, not a water softener. It removes chlorine, chemicals, and sediment. If you want to reduce hardness, pair it with the Pelican NS-3 (or NS-6 for 4-6 bath homes) NaturSoft conditioner.

What is the water pressure drop?

The pressure drop is minimal—typically about 3–5 PSI, which most homes will not notice.

Can I install this system outdoors?

Yes. The system can be installed indoors or in a sheltered outdoor location. Protect it from direct sun exposure and freezing temperatures.

Is this system compatible with well water?

This system is optimized for city water. If you have well water, contact us so we can recommend the correct pre-treatment setup.

What plumbing line size does it support?

The system supports standard ¾" and 1" plumbing lines.

How do I know if this is the right system for my home?

Message us with your zip code and household size and we can help confirm your water type and recommend the correct system size.

Can I replace the carbon myself?

Yes. Most homeowners can complete the replacement process in under two hours with basic tools and the correct replacement kit.
